Staff and volunteers from The Rosemary Foundation took time out to bake cakes and make tea at their second annual tea party in East Meon Village Hall in June.
Over 100 guests came to raise money for the foundation, which provides a “Hospice at Home” service for people in East Hampshire for people with life limiting conditions.
Guests included the expected such as Anthony Williams, Chairman of East Hampshire District Council, and the unexpected.
Nurse Claire Dunn explained: “It was a hot day and a rambler passing by asked for a cup of tea and some cake. He was happy to pay the £5 entry fee.”
Claire added: “It was a very successful, happy and well attended event. There was lots of love in the room and we had a number of bereaved families, one wanting to pass on money they’d raised.”
£3,500 was raised in all, including £1,500 from Leydene nurseryman Eric Gent who grows and sells plants for the charity.
The West Meon Music Festival on 14-16 September has also chosen The Rosemary Foundation as its sponsored charity.
