Simon Ware’s Great South Run

On Sunday 23rd October Simon Ware will be running in the Great South Run in Portsmouth. He has taken part in this race every year since it began in 1990, making this year his 27th consecutive run. Simon writes “I have always enjoyed running this 10 mile event and one of the most enjoyable parts of the course for me is when the race enters the Historic dockyard at mile 3. This is where I work as the Collections Officer for the Mary Rose Trust, looking after the 19,000 artefacts recovered from the wreck site. This year has been a particularly exciting year at the Trust as we have seen the re-opening of the museum after a six month closure period to install the new glass galleries which now give fantastic panoramic views of the ship. Next year will mark my 30th year of working at the Trust”.

Each year Simon raises funds for a local charity and this year is running for The Rosemary Foundation. Simon is aiming to raise in the region of £600 and will be generating funds through an online donation page at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/SimonWareGSR as well as with sponsor forms at work and around his local area.

Our thanks to Simon and all the other runners who are supporting the Foundation in the Great South Run this year.
