Lynn Tolmon – Run For The 96 5K

Run For The 96 5KRun-For-The-96Run For The 96 5K is a new running event being held in memory of the 96 Liverpool football fans lost in the Hillsborough tragedy. Lynn Tolomon will be running for the Rosemary Foundation on Sunday 19th April in memory of her Nanny Ruby.

Lynn tells us “I used to weigh 31 stone. My nanny Ruby stood by me through thick and thin, and always had cake on standby. She was also a huge Liverpool Football Club fan, and never missed a game on telly. She was so annoyed when I moved to Anfield, because I’d left it too late for her to come visit, as her poor health kept her at home. Losing Nan has inspired me to get fit, and not just lose weight, but actively enjoy my health while I have it.

Both my nanny Ruby and granddad Eric were supported by The Rosemary Foundation. For two fiercely independent people, Hospice-At-Home care meant freedom, dignity, family togetherness, and the precious gift of maintaining their marriage right to the end.

“My astonishingly determined Mum, who once terrified me by collapsing on the finish line of The Great South Run, promised Nan and Granddad that they wouldn’t go into hospital. With the help of The Rosemary Foundation she kept that promise.

“I’m asking people to support their vital work, by sponsoring my 5K challenge, which culminates in a place on the starting line at Run For The 96, the inaugural 5K race organised in support of the Hillsborough Justice Campaign in Anfield.”
