Janine cycles from Home to Rome

Home to Rome

Janine Gillard is set to cycle over 1100 miles, 60 to 70 miles a day, from ‘Home to Rome’ for The Rosemary Foundation.

Janine says “When my other half suggested he wanted to cycle to Rome, I said, I’ll come!”

Before she knew it he had booked flights back from Rome but not out! Now after much planning and training they are nearly ready to go.

Her brother in law, Robert Cutting, sadly passed away 5 years ago this Summer. He had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. A healthy, happy family man, it shook the whole family. With help from The Rosemary Foundation, Robert’s last few days were spent at home, a home he loved that had been at the heart of their family for many years. Weddings, Christenings and Christmases had all taken place there and it was where he felt safe, surrounded by his loved ones.

“I know that as I push myself up those Alps I will hear Robert, cheering me on and saying, Come on Jay, I know you can do it. He would love to have been able to get on a bike every morning and face a new road through France or Italy. He will be with me every rotation of my wheels.”
