The West Meon Music Festival

September 13, 2019 @ 10:00 am - September 15, 2019 @ 5:00 pm

A rare opportunity to be inspired

Concert goers have the opportunity to hear the brilliant young harpist Gabriella Jones when she plays at the West Meon Music Festival on 14 September.  Gabriella’s love of the harp and the pieces she plays are really inspirational. She will be performing at All Saints’ Church in East Meon at 3pm on Saturday 14 September. Tickets are £12 each and the recital will last about an hour with tea and cakes afterwards included in the ticket price.

Other festival events that day include masterclasses for young musicians from 11am to 1pm at St John’s Church in West Meon with free entry and attendees able to drop in and out as they wish. Coffee and light refreshments will be available to buy with all proceeds going to The Rosemary Foundation .On Saturday evening festival goers can enjoy an evening of “Music and Melodrama” with such delights as André Caplet’s music for harp and string quartet based on Edgar Alan Poe’s story “The Masque of the Red Death”, which will be narrated by actor Nicholas Jones, as well as Edward Elgar’s Piano Quintet – one of his last works, influenced by a legend of heretical monks transformed into a row of blighted trees that then existed close to the house in Sussex where Elgar was living.

The West Meon Music Festival runs from 13 to 15 September and full details of all festival events can be found at www.westmeonmusic.co.uk
