The concert being given by the gemini consort on 11 March at 7.30 in St Peter’s Church is titled Music of Solace and Tranquillity. It is full of beautiful, serene music which includes two settings of the Stabat Mater – one by Pergolesi for female voices and the other by the writer of marvellous melodies, Schubert. The programme also includes music by Purcell, Gluck, Mozart and the brilliant contemporary Scottish composer, James MacMillan, whose music is evocative, poignant and immediately appealing to its audience.
There will also be solo instrumental works for recorder and flute.
