We are very proud to announce that Bill Budd has been recognised for his outstanding achievement on our behalf last year. The East Hampshire Sports Awards 2015 took place on Thursday 12 February at the Old Thorns Manor Hotel.

Outstanding Personal Achievement Award

WINNER: Bill Budd – Cycling

“Bill’s first sporting love was athletics, first as a competitor and then as a coach. Bill suffered injury and could no longer take part or continue to coach athletics so turned to cycling. Bill turned 60 in July so decided that he would set himself a personal challenge whilst raising an incredible £9,000 for a local Petersfield charity. He embarked on a 6000 kilometre cycling challenge around Europe over 60 days and took on the Alps and Pyrenees solo. Bill was self sufficient towing all of his equipment from a tent to a toothbrush in a trailer behind him.

“Bill mainly wanted to prove that age is just a number, and battled injury and frostbite to inspire others that anything can be achieved if you set your mind to it.”

All of the winners from the East Hampshire Awards, organised by East Hampshire District Council, have been entered into The Hampshire & IOW Sports Awards 2015 which take place on Wednesday 25 March at St Mary’s Stadium, Southampton.

Congratulations Bill from all of us at The Rosemary Foundation. This award is very well deserved.
